"My favorite color is deep red – the floral pattern almost looks like a little winter wonderland."
"Annapurna" Hand-knitted Nepalese Hat with Earflaps
The "Annapurna" Nepalese hat is a classic chullo knit hat with earflaps, inspired by traditional patterns from the Himalayan region. Each hat is carefully handmade in Nepal – in small family knitting businesses around Panauti, Banepa, and Shakhu. No two hats are identical – each piece is truly unique.
Material & Warmth
Hand-knitted from durable Nepalese sheep's wool on the outside, and softly fleece-lined on the inside – for natural outer warmth, high wearing comfort, and reliable protection against cold, wind, and snow. The hat is breathable yet reliably warm, and the long earflaps provide optimal protection. Perfect for winter days, outdoor adventures, and cold city strolls.
Design & Pattern
The "Annapurna" hat features traditional Fair Isle or Jacquard knitting patterns, passed down through generations in Nepal: geometric and slightly floral motifs, harmonious, multi-colored pattern bands, as well as braided wool ties with tassels for fastening and a decorative tassel on the hat's peak. A distinctive look with cultural depth and modern everyday suitability.
Color Variants
- White – subtle natural tones in light grey and natural white with fine, calm pattern bands, timeless and versatile
- Black – dark grey/black combined with light grey and natural white, strongly contrasting pattern for a striking, confident appearance
- Olive – black and natural white in a bold, traditional design, earthy, authentic, and expressive
- Deep Red – deep wine red/bordeaux combined with black and natural white, a dense, almost floral pattern for a warm, characterful winter look
As each hat is hand-knitted, small differences in pattern or color transitions may occur – each "Annapurna" hat is a unique piece with its own personality.
Fair & Social
With every "Annapurna" hat, you support traditional Nepalese knitting artistry, fairly paid knitters, and sustainable, resource-efficient production. A hat that warms – and also does good.
It's best to see it for yourself – or come by Kramgasse 63, where you can try on the hat directly in the store.
