Kunsang

"I often recommend this bracelet as an entry point – for anyone who wants to wear a mala every day, without immediately getting the large 108-bead necklace. Compact, uncomplicated, and yet with the same origin from the Namdroling Monastery."

Sandalwood Mala Bracelet

This mala bracelet consists of round, smoothly polished sandalwood beads with a warm, reddish-brown color and the slightly varying grain typical of this wood – no two pieces are exactly alike.

The elastic band adapts to the wrist (one size) and can be worn easily every day. The compact bead size ensures a simple, unobtrusive look that can be combined well with other jewelry.

Origin – from the monastery shop in Namdroling

Namdroling Monastery is located in Bylakuppe, South India, and is one of the largest monasteries of the Nyingma tradition in exile – also known as the "Golden Temple". Right on site, there is a small shop run by the monks themselves, where pilgrims and visitors can find malas, incense, and religious items.

This bracelet comes from exactly this shop. The proceeds directly benefit the monastery community: the upkeep and education of the monks and nuns who live there.

Meaning & Tradition

Mala jewelry has its roots in centuries-old Buddhist traditions and is often worn to support meditation and mantra counting. This bracelet is suitable for this purpose, as well as for a daily reminder of a moment of calm – without having to be religious.

Sandalwood is traditionally considered calming and grounding, and indeed, the beads emit a subtle, woody scent that subtly unfolds with warmth and movement on the wrist.
