"Many customers want prayer flags for their balcony or a smaller terrace. These handy sizes are ideal for that – they look beautiful without taking up too much space."

Tibetan Cotton Prayer Flags – Ideal for Balconies, Terraces & Small Gardens

These traditional Tibetan prayer flags are made from 100% cotton and are printed with classic wood blocks. Each flag measures 14.5 × 17 cm and is available in four lengths: 2.3 meters, 3 meters, 4.35 meters, or 5.25 meters. This makes them perfect for balconies, terraces, smaller gardens, or as spiritual indoor decoration.

Each flag features traditional mantras, prayers, and the Wind Horse, which, according to Tibetan tradition, carries good fortune, compassion, and well wishes on the wind in all directions.

Meaning & Tradition

The five colors blue, white, red, green, and yellow represent sky, water, fire, air, and earth. Together, they symbolize the balance of all elements and serve as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all life.

Prayer flags are traditionally hung in places where the wind can blow freely. According to Tibetan belief, each gust of wind spreads the printed prayers and good wishes into the world. That's why they have been hung on houses, temples, mountain passes, and gardens for centuries.

Care & Use

The cotton flags are intentionally made to be exposed to wind and weather. Over time, the colors fade due to sun and rain – a natural part of their spiritual meaning and a symbol of impermanence.

Before hanging, briefly measure the desired area. For balcony railings or smaller terraces, the shorter versions are often sufficient, while the longer garlands create beautiful accents along a fence or between two trees. The string should be taut, but not overly stretched, so that the flags can move freely in the wind.
