Tibetan Mantra Cymbals – Tingsha 8 cm with Om Mani Padme Hum & Dorje (320 g)

These Tingsha cymbals have a diameter of 8 cm and weigh 320 grams – they are the largest and most visually rich mantra cymbals in our assortment. The outer surface carries two layers of symbolism: The Tibetan mantra Om Mani Padme Hum (ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ) in raised engraving around the dome – and on the dome itself a Dorje (Vajra), the Tibetan thunderbolt symbol, flanked by curved flame lines. The inside shows a lotus flower pattern. Every surface of these cymbals carries meaning.

At 320 grams, these cymbals are solid and heavy – the sound is accordingly: deep, full, with a very long sustain that fills the entire room. The patina is dark golden, almost bronze-colored – not a freshly polished new look, but a material that knows time and use. The leather cord is black and robust.

Om Mani Padme Hum & Dorje – two symbols, one cymbal

Om Mani Padme Hum is the compassion mantra of Tibetan Buddhism – the six syllables of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. The Dorje (Sanskrit: Vajra) is one of the most important symbols in Vajrayana Buddhism: It stands for unwavering clarity, the power of enlightenment, and the indestructibility of the true mind. How to use them

• Hold the leather cord in one hand, with both cymbals hanging freely downwards.
• Lightly strike the rims of the two cymbals against each other – not the flat sides, but the edges.
• Release immediately and let the sound resonate – with 8 cm, the sustain can last 30 seconds or longer.
• For a softer sound, strike at an angle; for a clearer, fuller tone, strike rim to rim directly.

Care

• The patina is part of its character – it does not need to be polished.
• Remove dust from the raised engraving with a soft brush.
• Do not use aggressive cleaning agents; keep the leather cord dry.
