Tibetan Tashi Cymbals – Tingsha 6.5 cm with eight auspicious symbols (237 g)

These Tingsha cymbals have a diameter of 6.5 cm and a weight of 237 grams – the larger and heavier version of our Tashi cymbals. All eight Tibetan auspicious symbols (Tashi Tagye, བཀྲ་ཤིས་རྟགས་བརྒྱད) are arranged in raised engraving around the dome – even clearer and more three-dimensional in this size than in the 6 cm version. You can see them all in picture 2: treasure vase, endless knot, conch shell, golden fish, victory banner, lotus flower, dharma wheel, and parasol. The round, full dome features a lotus flower motif, and the inside has Tibetan script.

At 237 grams, these cymbals feel significantly heavier in the hand than the 6 cm Tashi version (159g) – the sound is correspondingly deeper and fuller, with a longer sustain. The patina is warm golden, the brass has a characteristic depth that highlights the engraving particularly beautifully. The leather strap is black.

6 cm vs. 6.5 cm Tashi Cymbals – what's the difference?

Both versions feature the same eight auspicious symbols. The difference lies in size, weight, and sound quality: The 6 cm Tashi cymbals (159g) sound brighter and clearer – lighter in hand, more agile. The 6.5 cm Tashi cymbals (237g) sound deeper and fuller – the symbols are larger and clearer, and the weight gives the sound more body. If you're looking for a longer, more meditative sustain, choose the 6.5 cm version.

How to use them

• Hold the leather strap in one hand, with both cymbals hanging freely.
• Gently strike the edges of the two cymbals against each other – not the flat sides, but the edges.
• Immediately release and let the sound resonate – listen in silence as it fades.
• For a softer sound, strike at an angle; for a clearer, fuller tone, strike edge to edge directly.

Care

• The patina is part of the character – it does not need to be polished.
• Dust the raised engraving with a soft brush.
• No aggressive cleaning agents; keep the leather strap dry.
