“Green Tara stands for compassion and swift help. This thangka is large and ready to hang.”

Green Tara Thangka Scroll

This thangka shows Green Tara, the Tibetan goddess of compassion and swift help. She has green skin, wears a golden crown and rich adornments, and sits on a lotus throne. Behind her glows an orange sun disc in front of a golden halo, surrounded by blue and red peonies, green leaves and snow-capped mountains. She holds her left hand in front of her heart, while her right hand rests towards the lotus throne. At the bottom of the picture you can see an offering on a lotus flower, a conch shell, a mirror and a small flame.

Brocade, Silk and Rod

The printed picture is set in a red brocade frame with a fine pattern, surrounded by blue brocade with green and golden patterns. Red silk ribbons and a yellow silk apron at the top add accents. At the bottom, a rod with amber-coloured ends keeps the thangka hanging straight. The back is made of red cotton. The red hanging cord is already attached.
