Guru Rinpoche Thangka Scroll with Brocade, 61 x 71 cm, approx. 410 g

Kunsang

“Guru Rinpoche is deeply revered in Tibetan Buddhism – as a protector and teacher who brought Buddhism to Tibet. The thangka is ready to hang.”

Guru Rinpoche Thangka Scroll

This thangka shows Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the teacher said to have brought Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. He wears his characteristic hat, holds the vajra in his right hand and the skull cup in his left, with the khatvanga staff resting at his shoulder. He sits on a lotus seat in front of a green halo, surrounded by clouds, peonies and a water landscape with offerings along the bottom edge.

Brocade, Silk and Rods

The printed image is set in a blue-green brocade frame with golden patterns. Red silk ribbons and a yellow silk apron at the top add accents. A rod with orange ends sits at the bottom, and the back is made of red cotton fabric. The red hanging cord is already attached.
