Medicine Buddha Thangka Scroll

This thangka shows the Medicine Buddha (Sangye Menla), the Buddha of healing in Tibetan Buddhism. He sits with blue skin on a lotus throne in front of a green halo and a golden aureole. In his left hand he holds the bowl of medicinal herbs, while his right hand rests on his knee holding a medicinal plant. Pink peonies bloom around him, and offerings lie on a green meadow along the bottom edge.

Brocade, Silk and Rods

The printed image is set in a golden-yellow brocade frame with green and blue patterns. Red silk ribbons and a yellow silk apron at the top add accents. A rod with orange ends sits at the bottom, and the back is made of red cotton fabric. The red hanging cord is already attached.
