“Shakyamuni is the historical Buddha. The thangka is ready to hang.”

Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka Scroll

This thangka shows Buddha Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha. He sits in the lotus position, his right hand touching the ground in the earth-touching gesture (Bhumisparsha), while his left hand holds the alms bowl. Behind him are a radiant halo and a peach tree, in front of him a table with offerings.

Brocade, Silk and Fringes

The printed image is set in a golden-yellow brocade frame with fine patterns. Red silk ribbons and a yellow silk apron at the top add accents. Colourful fringes hang at the bottom, and the back is made of red cotton fabric. The red hanging cord is already attached.
