Kunsang

"The red silk ribbons and the yellow silk cover make this thangka a real eye-catcher – it's ready to hang."

Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka Scroll

This thangka depicts Buddha Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha, sitting in the lotus position with an alms bowl in his left hand. His right hand touches the earth (Bhumisparsha) – the gesture of steadfastness and enlightenment. Surrounding him are a halo, a fruit tree, peonies, and offerings in vibrant colors.

Brocade, silk, and rods

The printed image is set in a brocade frame with a yellow-orange background and green-blue patterns. Red silk ribbons and a yellow silk cover at the top provide accents. At the bottom is a rod with orange finials; the backing is made of red cotton fabric. The red hanging cord is already attached.
