Kunsang

“Shakyamuni is the historical Buddha. This thangka is large and ready to hang.”

Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka Scroll

This thangka shows Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha. He sits in the lotus position in an orange robe, with a blue topknot and a radiant halo. His right hand touches the earth, and in his left he holds the alms bowl. Behind him arches a tree with colourful fruits, and red and white peonies bloom on either side. At the bottom of the picture stands an altar with offerings, a vase, a mirror and a lamp.

Brocade, Silk and Rod

The printed picture is set in a red brocade frame with a fine pattern, surrounded by yellow brocade with green and blue patterns. Red silk ribbons and a yellow silk apron at the top add accents. At the bottom, a rod with amber-coloured ends keeps the thangka hanging straight. The back is made of red cotton. The red hanging cord is already attached.
