These cotton prayer flags, measuring 21 x 27 cm per flag, are slightly smaller than our large outdoor version and are available from Himalaya Vibes in four lengths: 3.5 meters, 4.4 meters, 6.5 meters, or 7.7 meters. Exactly right if you don't have a garden or fence available, but want to hang the flags on a balcony railing, in a stairwell, or across a window – or even a longer row, without sacrificing the compact flag size.

Here too, you'll find the classic five-color sequence – blue, white, red, green, and yellow – printed with traditional mantras, symbols, and the wind horse, which carries the prayers on its back.

Meaning & Tradition

The five colors represent the five elements – sky, water, fire, air, and earth. For me, it makes no difference whether a row of flags is three meters or thirty meters long: what matters is that the wind can reach them. Even a smaller garland on the balcony carries good wishes just as far out into the world as a large one over the garden.

I sometimes hang a shorter row myself on the kitchen window – a small, silent greeting to the day, every time I walk past it.

Care & Use

These flags are also meant to weather – the colors will become lighter over time due to sun, rain, and wind; that is part of the tradition. You do not need to protect them.

The compact flag size is particularly suitable for balcony railings, window frames, or a stairwell – anywhere where a large garland would take up too much space. For the longer versions (6.5 m / 7.7 m), it's worth measuring the distance between the attachment points beforehand. Stretch the flags so that the wind can reach them, then they will unfold their full effect – whether compact at the window or as a longer row on the fence.
