"A customer recently described their entire garden plot to me – a fence stretching almost from one corner to the other. In such cases, I always show the longer versions first, so you don't have to tie two or three rows together."
Tibetan Prayer Flags Made of Cotton – the Large Garland for Garden & Fence
Each flag in this version measures 23 x 36 cm and is available at Himalaya Vibes in four lengths: 5.5 meters, 6.9 meters, 7.2 meters, or 8 meters. This way, you can find the right continuous garland for an entire fence, a long garden wall, or the stretch between two trees, without having to tie several shorter rows together.
Each flag is printed with traditional mantras and symbols, accompanied by the wind horse that carries the prayers on its back – in the classic five-color sequence of blue, white, red, green, and yellow.
Meaning & Tradition
The five colors represent the five elements – sky, water, fire, air, and earth. With a long garland, I particularly like how much wind it catches along its entire length – some part of the flags is always moving from one end to the other. To me, it looks like a continuous, never-quite-still prayer.
In everyday Tibetan life, such long rows are often strung along paths, passes, or around houses – places where many people and a lot of wind pass by. The more wind touches the flags, the further they carry the good wishes.
Care & Use
Like all our prayer flags, these are made to weather – the colors will intentionally lighten over time due to sun, rain, and wind. You don't need to protect them.
Briefly measure the distance between the attachment points beforehand, then you'll know which of the four lengths fits. Two stable points – fence posts, trees, house wall – are usually sufficient, and the flags should hang taut but not too tightly stretched, so they can move freely in the wind.
Measure the distance at home and choose the appropriate length – or come by Kramgasse 63, and we'll figure it out together.
