Tibetan prayer flags OM – the right size for every location

These prayer flags bear the syllables of the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum – each individual flag in blue, white, red, green or yellow shows one syllable. At Himalaya Vibes, you'll find them in five sizes: from the small variant with 4 x 6 cm (approx. 0.4 m total length) over 6.5 x 8.5 cm (approx. 0.8 m), 7 x 10 cm (approx. 1 m) and 10 x 13.5 cm (approx. 1.5 m) to the large version with 15 x 19 cm (approx. 2.0 m).

This way, you'll find the right size for any location – whether at the window, above the bed, in the car or as a longer garland over the balcony.

Meaning & Tradition

Om Mani Padme Hum is one of the most famous mantras in Tibetan Buddhism – an invocation to Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion. For me, each of the six syllables has its own power: They represent the six perfections that should help us live more compassionately and clearly.

When the wind sweeps over the flags, the mantra – so the belief goes – is "spoken" anew with every gust of wind and carried out into the world. You don't have to be able to recite the syllables, the wind does that for you.

Care & Use

Like all prayer flags, these are also meant to weather – sun, rain and wind lighten the colors over time, and that's part of the tradition. Hang them in a place where the wind can move them freely, then their effect unfolds best. The smaller sizes are also nice for indoors, for example at the window or above the bed.
