“White Tara stands for long life and purity. The thangka is ready to hang.”
White Tara Thangka Scroll
This thangka shows White Tara, the Tibetan goddess of long life, healing and compassion. She sits with white skin in lotus posture on a lotus throne, in front of a fine halo of rays between green leaves and peonies. Her right hand rests in the gesture of giving, and in her left hand she holds the stem of a lotus blossom. She has a third eye on her forehead. At the bottom, offerings, water and a small deer can be seen.
Brocade, Silk and Fringes
The printed image is set in a blue brocade frame with green and golden patterns. Red silk ribbons and a yellow silk apron at the top add accents. Colourful fringes hang at the bottom, and the back is made of red cotton fabric. The red hanging cord is already attached.
