Rudraksha Mala Large – 108 beads (⌀ 11 mm)

This mala consists of 108 genuine Rudraksha seeds, each with a diameter of 11 mm and a total weight of around 75 grams. Rudraksha are the dried pits of the fruits of the Elaeocarpus tree, which is native primarily to Nepal and India. Each seed is unique: deep furrows, known as mukhi, and a vivid, almost sculptural surface – in the close-up, you can see how differently each individual bead has grown. The shades also vary from light orange to dark brown. This is not a flaw, but the sign of authentic nature.

At 11 mm, this is our most robust Rudraksha mala. It sits heavily and solidly in the hand – ideal if you want to clearly feel each bead while counting mantras. There is a knot between each bead so that they slide cleanly and do not rub against each other. Thanks to its length, you can also wear it as a long necklace over your head. The golden-yellow silk tassel marks the guru bead, the starting and ending point of each round.

Meaning & Tradition

In Tibet and throughout the Himalayan region, the mala is as much a part of everyday life as morning prayer. 108 is a sacred number – it stands for the 108 worldly desires in Buddhism and for the completeness of the circle that always closes again. With each bead, you recite a mantra, a wish, a breath.

For centuries, Rudrakshas have been considered particularly powerful meditation beads – they are said to calm the mind, strengthen concentration, and have a protective effect. The large beads, in particular, have something deeply grounding about them: you don't just hold them, you feel them.

Care & Use

• Rudrakshas like to be kept dry – avoid moisture and soap, and never submerge them in water.
• Rub them occasionally with a drop of coconut or sesame oil so that the seeds do not dry out and retain their warm color.
• Keep the mala in a brocade pouch when you are not wearing it.
• For meditation: hold the mala in your right hand, with your thumb and middle finger guiding the beads – traditionally, the index finger is left out. At the guru bead, you turn and count in the other direction.
